Hi all,

I have a Landpride 8' landscape rake that I've been using to remove snow from my 1/4 mile driveway. It works well but, I'm thinking about mounting 15" high galvanized flashing to the inside of the moldboard so that the snow can slide off of it easier. Has anyone done this? Any and all thoughts and ideas are welcomed. Thanks in advance. Clay

Interested in what people come up with... I would think that Flashing might be too flimsy. I got some to try but we don't get much snow!

I thought about bolting a 2x8 to the tines... helps with not digging into the gravel, too.

I read this last night and the first thing that came to mind is some very large diameter PVC pipe we have in the back lot at work. Must be close to 1/2" wall thickness. A couple lengthwise slices and you could have a nice curved blade to bolt on and the tines would reinforce it. The inside is smooth and would be as slippery as snot on a doorknob.

The way that I always heard it was, slippery as hot snot on a glass doorknob.

Doesn't LP offer a fold up moldboard for it's landscape rakes?

I use a 6' landscape rake to clear snow here as well. Here in Nevada, we don't get much snow like the folks back east, but I'll clear it when we get a foot or more. ( not to often ) I'm finding that the stock tines work quite well on their own. Because I've got a gravel driveway, I raise slightly above the level of the gravel and most of the rock stays in place just clearing the snow. I've noticed that the rake and stock tines clear the drive moving less rock than the 6' blade I've got as well, might be just me. I don't angle the rake, but I can see how those on a paved drive would want to angle it. Would be nice to see a bolt on unit that could do this for folks that don't have a blade, less passes on the driveway. Guess it would come down to if your driveway is paved or not.

Thanks all for the posts. Landpride does offer a drop down 10" high grader blade attachment for the rake. it is placed in front for the tines for about $500 at my local dealer. I'm not certain that it would be the best solution for snow removal being only 10 inches high. The rake by itself is working OK. Just thought that I could make it better with less money. Best to all and Happy New Year. Clay
