Long 2310
Hi!
We have a Long 2310 tractor: TractorData.com Long 231 tractor information While the disc or bush hog attachment is on it, it doesn't want to steer properly and the tires tend to dig the grass and dirt up (it basically makes mini ditches). We took it to a local heavy equipment shop that works on just about anything but their specialty is Deere. The guy there suggested two things: 1) new front tires (one tire has a little wear on it) 2) a weight ballast box for the front of the tractor. We had tried putting concrete and bricks into a wooden box attached to the front of the tractor but this guy said we would need 300 to 400 lbs. Has anyone had any success with DIY ballast? Would appreciate any thoughts or ideas you have on this.
Thanks!

I have no specific information on that tractor. The general idea is to add an extension to the frame so you can hang weight off the front.
As far as weight- typically folks go with water or concrete or metal. Because you will have to lift the weight I'd say concrete is out- one mass instead of several smaller pieces or a tank that you can add water to after it is attached.

Thanks, RNeumann for responding! I will look into the water ideal! :)

Water is a little over 8#/gal or 62#/sf. I'm guessing you will want something that holds a little over 30 gal since the frame and tank will weigh a bit as well.
