Knife shanks for Landpride box blade

Instead of ripping riddles across the pasture with my box blade shaanks as I have don in the past to get better irrigation distribution, I was thinking of using knife slicers. I have a box blade with the typical shanks. Does anyone make knife attachments or replacement shanks (Landpride unit)? I have already tried a small disk unit with no luck. The concave disks wanted to lift and tear the sod. I want to cut about 4" deep and not rip up the sod as the current shanks do. Slice ridges are OK, I just dont want sod chunks everywhere. A sub-soiler might work, but I cant afford another piece of specialty equipment unless the shank sections might fit my box unit.

I can certainly second your box blade/shank sod ripping experience. I have a Bush Hog ROBB and it makes a total mess when trying to aerate a pasture with "shanks down". My disk harrow, and 400# concrete added weight, doesn't cut well either - with the disks angled straight forward.

I had given up on this task but will be following your post for suitable solutions.

If you just want to slice a 4" deep gash, I would think that the rolling coulter from a cultivator would work just right if you can find several of them. Maybe a bit of modification to the mountings and they could be fitted to your Box Blade.

I got to thinking that I could put (have welded) a sharp edge on the existing shank and point the tip. The bottom shank would still pull the blade down. But possibly I could have a shank fabricated with these Coulter blades attached? I wonder how strong the are. The box blade weight should be enough to sink them in?
Gary would the wavy ones be better for what I want?

What I was looking for I call a sod cutter that goes in front of a plow. They are just a flat rolling disk... Maybe called "coulter blades"

I do not think you can modify a Box Blade so the scarifiers will aerate, because Box Blade shanks are straight. Box Blade shanks are designed to reach to the bottom of road potholes and chip out surrounding road surface. I researched your idea for two years, prior to buying a Field Cultivator.

The implement you need is a spring-protected FIELD CULTIVATOR. Field Cultivators are secondary tillage implements, so ground must have been plowed within 3-4 years of when you want to aerate it. Field Cultivators, then called 'tillers', were among the first implements designed for the Three Point Hitch by its inventor, Harry Ferguson. Field Cultivators have parabolic shanks so the Field Cultivator 'points' cut horizontally through the dirt.

Field Cultivators are made in three shank/Cat 1 to 12 shank/Cat2 models.
Field Cultivators require five tractor horsepower per shank to pull through soil and grass.

I do not want to tear up the sod as shown, just cut deep slits for better water distribution. I flood irrigate.
