Would you expect new attachments to be received with paint damage, in some areas down to the bare metal? Perhaps I'm just being picky, but thinking I should not have to go and find matching paint, then do touch-ups on a new pine needle rake from Everything Attachments to prevent it from rusting.

What was everything attachments response on the reported damage ?
Can they ship you the touch up paint?
Some freight damage can happen after it leaves production and before it arrives at your place. I can easily see being upset. Trying to prime the bare metal and then matching the paint could be quite a bit of hassle. Question is can they help you resolve the problem. Even just getting the color code from them for you to use at a pro paint shop such as Sherwin Williams or a Pittsburgh paint supplier would make it so much easier.

Are you going to use it or mount it on a wall as art?

All my implements get scratched up soon after purchase.

I too like to keep things nice and get paint to match that keeps them that way. Implements do get scuffed, scraped and eventually need to be repaired. I personally don't bother with things that area wear item though. A place like EA would want you to be happy with what you've got. Post back on how they do.

Have you talked to them about it first?

I ordered my machine on-line from Power-Trac in Tazewell, VA. It had some rub marks down to bare metal from shipping straps and several of the implements that were banded to skids did as well. I asked them what color paint they used. They sent me two half pints of green and black. I touched up the machine, but not the implements.... after several people pointed out its 1/4" thick steel plate or better!!! Its never ever going to rust through. And 16 years later, its still just surface rust.... that, and I actually use my attachments and machine. :)

The first time you use that attachment, its going to be scratched. The very first time. My guess is its going to be John Deere yellow. Get yourself a 6 pack of spray cans at Home Depot for $23.00 and touch it up after each use if you think it needs it. But really, its a rake.

Rust-Oleum Specialty 12 oz. John Deere Yellow Farm Equipment Spray Paint (6-Pack)-744383 - The Home Depot

Call the company and ask them what color it is. I'm sure they'll tell you.

Go use it once and then make a determination if it's Worth your time. It's a ground engagement tool, it's going to be hard on paint.

I too keep lots of spray cans around...

I have posted critically here concerning chipped paint on a new ETA Cultipacker.

When I pay for NEW implements I expect them to arrive in NEW condition.

I think it is time for everytfhingattachments.com to change from wet paint to powder coat. That will resolve 95% of the problem short term and long term.

Paint is ETA's weak link.

I think Newbury has the correct take on this issue. If its a piece of artwork - paint it up and mount it on the wall. Otherwise, use it and then after a year or so, do any touchups you feel are necessary. Most all my implements, except my Wallenstein chipper, sit out in the weather on pallets and they still work just fine with a little rust here & there.

If you contact us concerning the paint, we will compensate you for some.

It's hard to ship things cross country without some damage and we face the ongoing battle with ground and LTL carriers.
Our transport & shipping dept can sometimes scuff items as well because everything is made and painted in one location and transferred to another for final assembly and shipping.
We will be transitioning to a new facility soon where our sales, mfg., shipping & assembly will be under one roof. This will greatly help us in many areas!!

Some scuffing is simply going to happen, but we try to make the best of it when it does.

If people buy attachments at local dealers, the dealer sees it first after transit and touches it up= shiny new for the customer even though it's been touched up.

We do use New Caterpillar Yellow paint instead of a color specific to us because it is widely available.
Sorry about the damage, but you will love the product when it hits the ground!

Gosh I'd hate to see them go to powder coat! It is not better IMHO at least in places where things rust.
