I just picked up one of these for free. Spindles feel good, so does the gear box, which was tight and full of pure oil no water. Changed the oil out, greased the spindles and the wheels and have them free. I need to test it before I buy new blades as the ones on it were shot like 2 seasons before they parked it!!!

So lets hear who thinks this mower is any good or sucks? Age estimation or years of production. This one is different than the TM48 which has a double pulley on the gear box and 2 belts this one just has one belt.

For free, I promise you it will cut great. Seriously, I have no experience with that one, but you really won't know how well it cuts until you try it and see. I wouldn't be afraid to get a new set of blades for it. If you don't like it, you should at least be able to sell it and get your money back out of it, or maybe even make a little gas money off of it. Good luck, and Go Cocks.

Keep the spindles in good shape and keep it away from rocks. Some spindles for some TM mowers are NLA, some are stupid money.

I've got a TM-5 which is about 35 years old. Seems like I paid around $1200 for it new. It has only one belt, leveling chains and two tail wheels. It's been a great mower.

The deck is starting to rust through in places and I patch them when it does. Replaced that expensive belt only twice. Still using it every week during grass cutting season. Matter of fact I just used it this evening.

About forgot, it cuts clean, has rear discharge and scatters the clippings very well.

Yea I mwant to say it has 2 tail wheels and a front anti scalp roller and check chains in front to holt it up. I am going to buy the belt off ebay, just a generic one at first for $15 then maybe try and find a kevlar one. I bought a bushhogging brand $80 belt for the FTH720 and won't do that again, just get the length and buy a generic kevlar belt off eBay for less than half.

I tried to put a pic but couldn't figure out how to do it from my phone? I have to email myself the pic then get it on a computer to upload it. I don't think there is any paint left anywhere but the gear box , but the deck appears to be solid everywhere.

This one is actually a tm4-rm2 which could be a revised version or latter model?
