3pt Finish Mower Durability?

...the capacity of the hog since its shipped dry.... Oil Brand would be nice too....

Rule of thumb... on any gearbox type device, have unit level, open fill plug... and fill until oil is even{with plug hole} or starts coming out the opening...

First use the manual that came with the equipment, but most gearboxes will use 80/90 wt... marketing brand shouldn't matter on most consumable items, unless specifically mentioned by the manufacturer {which is extremely rare}

If you notice most "fill plugs" are located about 75-85% near the top of the gearbox housing... the extra room is for expansion of oil that occurs during "work", with the oil under pressure, gets hot and expands... some of the gearboxes will have relief valves... without the relief valve or expansion room... the gearbox can break if overfilled... /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

You owe me a stick of gum for the $400. savings... /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I didn't notice anyone mentioning the JD 272 rear finish mower. Is this thing any good? They threw one in with my 4300 purchase. I hope I didn't buy a turkey. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
