I've been getting ready to get a 6' finish mower to mow yard grass but am unsure which one to get. Been looking at Bush Hog, Land Pride, Frontier, Woods and Everything Attachment brands. Any recommendations on these brands or any other brand to get? You guys recommend getting brand new or a used one in good condition? You guys that have had a finish mower for a while are yall experiencing any problems or issues with them?

thank yall for the information

I have a Bush Hog RDTH72 that works great for finish mower my lawn. It took a while but found it on craigslist for $700.

I purchased a 6' Agmate from Agri Supply this year and have been very pleased with it. Compare it with shipping and the reviews to other models. I have a store 75 miles from me so I picked mine up but shipping may be affordable.

I also purchased an Agimate 72" rear mower. It's been great so far. Shipping to MA was right around $280 IIRC.

I have a LandPride bought new in 1990 model FD 2572. Goes on 3 pt. 6' wide 3 blades.

Did not use it much for years but now with a Kubota M7040 cab and AC I am using it again.

If you have sloped areas such as beside a driveway, the mower housing ends will dig in and create scrapes in the lawn.

When I first got it, I made the mistake of using it where I should have used a bush hog style mower and in a few seconds half the gear box was flailing around on the end of the pto shaft.

The new mowers have rear discharge which I think would be much better than the side discharge.

Unless you have a fairly smooth lawn, your cut of the grass with the mower on a 3 pt hitch will not be a high quality as a mid mounted mower of the same width and the tractor carrying the mid mounted mower.

The longer wheel base of the tractor trends to even out the dips and bumps compared to the 3 pt mower deck supported on its own 4 wheels.

I have a 5' bush hog brand finishing mower and it is very heavy duty. Built well. I picked it up a couple of years ago as lightly used for $900. This was about $2400 brand new. I am very pleased with it.

Over the last 25 years, I have been using a Woods RM306-3 & & RM 660.
Both bought used. Nothing but belts, blades & grease as long as I have owned them.
Both are still working fine. The 306 has heavier blades & I have abused it but it keeps on cutting.
(Cutting 1"-1.5" brush when too lazy to hook up Bush Hog.)
Last year I bought a newer tractor with a 5' MMM and the 3pt mowers have been delegated to the woods.
