Looking for backhoe for B2100 Kubota - What type is the best? Can you direct me to any specific internet sites?

There are a couple dealers here on this site that will probably reply to this message. I know they have helped me with information alot. I'm sure that your location will be of some consideration but they will start you in the right direction. The only reason why I'm not mentioning them is I would hate to leave someone out that has been of help to me and have some hard feelings. So we will leave it up to the dealers to contact you. Good luck with your searches though.

Hit the "search" button and type in "backhoe" you'll bring up tons of discussions, the most critical being the difference between a hitch mount (3pt type) and a "frame" mount.
There's been a couple of people have posted that they are happy with and have had no problems with their 3 pt types, but those can sometimes not handle the backhoe stresses and pass the stress to the tractor, sometimes with disastrous results. The problems with the 3pt setup might be less or more on some tractors and possibly the fellows that posted are either more knowledgeable, or just more careful then most.
My experience has been that it is a terrible idea to mount such a swinging hydraulic weight on the 3pt. Of course I've also seen backhoes about the power level of a typical Kubota/JD etc that were mounted on the 3pt of a BIG ag tractor, as they don't make (anymore) 3pt backhoes for the BIG tractors. With those setups you couldn't hurt the tractor no matter what you did. Next time you are near a big tractor look at the back end of it...WOW! Makes me feel like my "little" Kubotas (BX and L35) are tinkertoys!

The Kubota backhoe model would be a B4672A. It is the same backhoe that is presently being used on the B7500 series. As part of the package, you would also need the 4681 brace kit and heavy duty top link. Remember Kubota's backhoes are engineered and designed by Kubota to work within all specs. This alone would give me peace of mind. I am by no means dismissing other companies that make backhoes, you just need to see what kind of price variations you come up with and if the trade-off is worth it. When comparing to other backhoes, remember to check several things such as ground clearance, attachment to frame and any warranty issues that may arise. You may want to check out bradco and bushhog. I've got a Woods 7500 Groundbreaker with subframe on my B2710. My dealer recommended it instead of the Kubota BH
w/ 3pt hitch setup for frame integrity and performance.
I just recently dug out a 14 inch white oak with 4 foot
root ball and never felt like the BH or tractor were overworked.The hydraulics on the FEL were tested getting
the darn thing out of the hole I dug, but I managed to extract it safely and without feeling I had hurt my equipment.

I was looking for a backhoe myself, for my JD 4200. JD makes a very expensive unit that uses neither the 3pt. nor a subframe, but mounts directly and quickly to the frame of the tractor ($6500). It greatly reduces the amount of forces absorbed by the tractor. Due to the high cost, I then looked at subframe mounts and 3pt. mounts, and the general consensus amongst most dealers was this: if I purchase a 3pt. backhoe, I should plan on having repairs done to the tractor in the future. Even with a subframe, I would be placing a tremendous (albeit, less) strain on my tractor, and risk some damage.
I decided that I'd rather pay the rental fee and use a rig that was built for excavating, and ensure that my JD lives to do almost every other chore for the next 25 years - these compact utilities are one of the best investments a person can make. Good luck, hess.

I am also in the process of figuring out what backhoe to get for my 2710. Why the Woods, and not BRADCO or any of the other brands. How does the Woods compare ? Any info is greatly appreciated...../w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
