Hey everyone, I知 pretty sure I致e read it here multiple times, but want to double check, got a 28 PTO HP new holland, which should run about 14,000 watts.. can I use a 25,000 watt/50,000 surge watt pto generator With about a 10,000 watt load? Reason for the large generator is it is for sale and a good deal.

Thanks everyone!

Yes you can, if you put to much load on your tractor will be the weak link, with a 10,000 watt load should be taking about 20 hp on your tractor.
It will be a heavy enough generator that it may be a little rough on your pto clutch/brake when you shut it down.

If I bring it down slowly to idle then disengage though it shouldn’t be to bad? I have a electromagnetic controlled pto. Guy wants 1500 for it, on its own trailer with pto shaft and manual, he’s original owner.

I just worry about it consuming a lot of fuel just turning it, but if there’s no load it shouldnt actually turn that bad right?

With no load it will not use more energy than it takes to spin it, very little loss.

Ok so seams like a good deal then, it’s a 1800 rpm which is great also!

Since we're on this subject, just how big of a generator would one use for an average 2400 sq ft home that is all electric?
I'm sure more information is needed but, I'm not sure what information that would be. Will check with my other half when she gets home and see what our average electric usage for winter is.

You need to go all over the house and add up how many amps/watts everything comes toooo

Adding that up with a cushion added will tell you... (IF you want to run everything at once)

OR add up what you "really need" in an outage and see what that comes to...

OK, thanks. Will look into that.
Doing a little research after seeing this thread, I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter how much I need to run the whole house. My 16 hp tractor tops out with a 7200 amp generator anyway. Pretty sure my heat pump will take a lot more than that to keep the house warm. But, if I can power the fire place fan, the frig, the microwave, coffee maker and a couple of lights available, we'll survive till the power comes back on. Or, I run out of diesel. ;)

Heck I run my 50kW Winpower off the pto of my F-935 lawnmower (~22 hp). It doesn' PIC00015.JPGt even grunt. I use a Kill-O-Watt device to set the throttle for 60Hz and away we go...
