I am looking into purchasing a log splitter for my Kubota L3130. I have rear hydraulics and plan on using that setup. I have looked at the North Star from Northern Tool and the one from Tractor Supply Corp. They both cost about $600 and they both split horizontally & vertically. Any one had any experience with either of these? Are there any other companies out there offering them? Thanks for any input.

I have the TSC one on my tractor with about 10gpm flow. It is very powerful and does pretty much any log I put on it. The main part is heavy duty.

The bads:
-Legs are weak and spindly - easy to knock off, so get some extra bolts.
-When vertical, it is VERY tight quarter next to the tire.
-It's slow by standalone standards, but is about as fast as the old standalone I replaced.

I would buy it again.

I too have the TSC splitter, and have no complants other than the legs. I haven't seen the North Star's up close, but from the pictures it looks like it doesn't have any legs at all. That could make mounting/dismounting more of a chore. I also like the fact that the TSC splitter mounts across the rear of the tractor (parralell to the axle) making it easier to manuever. The North Star mounts strait back.

Hope this helps out
