I am fixing a disc harrow for a friend, one of the axle needs to be replaced. Now the old axle is round but aggrisupply only carries square axles. Are the round axles thing of the past or something? I am confident I can make it work, just curious.

Seems like there is only one company that still makes round axles. But I am in luck, this harrow is already using all elements with square hole, I guess round axle can be used with square holes, without problems.

Here, if you ever need round axle, email from aggrysupply:

Only one i know has round axles is Shoup mfg. company in illinois, their phone number is 1-800-627-6137.

Are you referring to the gang bolt? If so there is a plethora of round gang bolt discs, it is not uncommon at all and are still used today. Ultimately the goal is to keep everything tight so it spins as a unit and not on the gang bolt (among other reasons). If you accomplish that then problem solved.
