Case DX 45
I've a Case DX 45 that works great for the most part, however, when lifting 2000 pounds of feed out of the back of a trailer my FEL won't lift. I've replaced the front tires with 8 ply and even tried carrying the brush hog or auger attachment on the rear to no avail. I've read before it should lift 2000 pounds, though need to find a solution.

The 2000 lb is rated at the pivot pin, the farther out the load is the less it will lift. I don't know what the bucket weighs, 200 lbs.? I would try starting at about 1500 lbs.

It will max out lifting about 1500/1600 (using the forks on the FEL), though how do I get it to lift 2000#? Also, if it won't lift 2000# what criteria should I look at to accomplish this when purchasing another tractor?

Straight off my loader operator manual "heavy lift" chart. At the pivot pins my loader will lift - 2400kg(approximately 5300 pounds) to a height of 200mm(roughly 16"). 800mm(roughly 30 inches) out from the pivot pins the loader will lift - 1500kg(approximately 3300 pounds). So - move out 2X from the pivot pins and the ability to lift is just about cut in half.

The further out from the pivot pins - - the less the loader will lift. This function has to do with actual "grunt".

The higher the load - the less the loader is approved to lift. This function is mainly, but not totally, a safety issue.

Looking at my load lift chart - the ability to lift a load drops rapidly as you increase lift height or move out from the pivot pins.

How can you determine what a tractor can lift. Look at the loader operator manual - it should have load lift charts. These charts will tell you the MAXIMUM load that can be lifted at the pivot pins and at some distance out from the pins. This chart will also tell how high a load should be lifted.

Learn to read and accurately interpret these charts.

Are you using bucket forks? Or are you using SSQA forks?

SSQA forks are alot lighter, and keep the load a lot closer.

With the bushhog on the back.....are you still lifting the rear of the tractor? or are the hydraulics simply not strong enough.

If you are lifting with forks, try putting forks in/under pallet raise boom up as much as it will go then curl the forks back. See if that will raise it enough to unload pallet. If the feed is in bags, remove enough to allow the tractor to lift.

They are SSQA forks. I was going to change out the Trans fluid and use they Hydro Static fluid as recommended and hope that helps. Manual says that it may not lift as it should if not using that fluid. Is it possible there is a problem with my hydraulics that are preventing optimum performance?

Don't see changing fluid making a bit of difference.

What's your pressure? Out a gauge on it

If you do upgrade, feel free to send that DX 45 out my way...
