Was fighting my box blade wanting to jump up over a lot of stuff or float over grass vs cutting. I can't say I would recommend others do this, but it did work and was an easy field expedient solution to make the box blade behave a little more how I wanted it to.

Have a friend's BB I was borrowing before I had my own. He hasn't had a need for it, so just sitting around. Sat it on top of mine, ratchet strapped them together, and doubled the weight instantly. Everyone talks about their Ratchet Rakes - now we can talk about Ratchet Box Blades! :)

I’ve thought about ways to make my box blade heavier for similar reasons but never thought to do it this way! Excellent execution.

I permanently attached my sprayer tank on top of my BB and boy does it ever dig in.

That should get you by,or make rock box and fill it full of rocks.

I stand on top of mine and make my father get on the tractor and drive. At 70 years young, I wouldn't ask him to get on the box... but I do it and feel fine about it. Adding 200 lbs to it makes a huge difference!

I made an 8x8 weight block out of 2x8 and 6x8 tubing. I then filled it with lead, steel rebar and concrete for a total of 410 lbs. I then welded three 5/8's bolts to the back of it so it could hold my 110 lb Ratchet Rake for a total 520 lbs. I then mounted the hole thing on the back edge of my BB for maximum effectiveness.

Since these pics were taken, I've since removed the 6' of railroad rail with my new Everlast 50S plasma cutter.

That's what I'd have done were it not for half a dozen axles from OTR trucks I had lying around.

MY WAY was much faster :) j/k - that's great! I've been thinking on how to permanently mod mine since I really like the performance with the extra weight on it. Keep getting stuck on either cost of materials (weight plates, lead shot) or something that would prevent seeing into the box. I like the weld on square tube. Your ~500 lbs - I think that's right around how much I want to add to mine.

Whoa, that's some serious weight. I mounted a bolt-on elevator weight. I have two and can stack them.
