I am attempting to prepare the ground (see attachment) around our new house for seeding. This morning my local tool rental yard delivered a 6 foot Harley Rake for my use.
Well the landscapers worst nightmare occurred-----rain!!!!! Its kinda long story as I have a very narrow window of time to complete this task (ie. I'm on vacation this week, Wednesday/Thursday are the only days I will be free to do this, etc.) What do I do now? How wet or saturated can the soil be in order for this implement to be effective?
I did manage to get it hooked up properly before the rains came as I made a mad dash for the barn. Once I do get it operational, the guy said to run it in low gear at the highest RPM as I would run my rear finish mower. How do I get started though? Do I rev it up and just lower it and take off? Or do I lower the 3pt hitch at a slower RPM and build up the revs as I move forward?
The rental guy did not get here till noon so he gave me an extra half day at no charge, hopefully the weather will improve over the next 24 hours and I'll be able to finish.
