The Allis Chalmers 160 that I recently purchased came with a "wide angle" bucket. It is basically a small square bucket with a lip that has two wide low sloped wings branching off of it so that the front of the bucket runs toward the back of the bucket at maybe a 30 degree angle (maybe more). Also, the sides of the wings are not high at all. I think the brand name is Kelley or something like that.

I was wondering if anybody could tell me what uses this bucket is designed for.

I have not used it yet, but it does not seem well suited for moving dirt, gravel, etc. It seems first of all that it will not carry much material and second of all that if you run into a pile and lift and curl, most of the material is going to run over the sides of the wings, making the bucket very inefficient.

Anyway, I was wondering if any of the dealers or price knowledgeable folks out there thought I would likely be able to find a dealer that would make a clean swap of a regular bucket for the wide angle bucket with me.

Or, if somehow I've got a great bucket and am just too ignorant to know it, please let me know. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That link didn't seem to have much to do with the question about this bucket. John

The link is a web page that you can post questions concerning the 160 tractor (including it's attachments)
Or if you click on the names highlighted in blue it gives you the email address of other 160 tractor owners. This allows you to ask them questions directly concerning the tractor or even the loader or other attachments for the 160.

Sounds like a bucket designed to push material, such as sloppy manure, silage on a mound, and/or snow. As you see, not much good for digging in dirt or scooping up gravel.

Of course that's what it's for!! You know what I thought was that there was a post about the same problem or something. I'm getting worse every day about seeing the forest! Thanks, John
