Best medium to heavy duty 7\' rear blade

I've looked at lots of 7' rear blades. I apparently need at least a "medium" or "heavy duty" blade. I borrowed a neighbor's KK brand and destroyed the thing. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif I suppose it is okay for a garden tractor, but clearing just snow last year it caught an expansion joint in my driveway and it was history. My question is, what is a good quality heavy built rear blade that I can use for some dirt work as well as clearing snow etc. that isn't just junk? I have a local Rural King and TSC, but all they carry would be a total waste of money for me as my tractor would fold them up and destroy them the first time I hit anything solid, like my driveway expansion joints. Is it going to take a 500 pound or heavier blade to get what I want? If so, what brands and prices?

Dargo , I have a Woods HBL 84-2 blade . It has tilt ,angle and offset . It weighs around 550 lbs . I also got the end plates for it . About the only weak link is the end plates . They can bend fairly easily if you hook them on something .
I won't go as far to say that it's the Best blade for the bucks . But it is really well built ,and has done everything I've asked of it . John

Do you mind telling me about how much that blade was? That is the model my local dealer carries.

TSC also sells King Kutter HD blades in my area.
The one you destroyed was a $200 cheap light duty blade.
The HD blades are over 700 pounds and cost is $700 to $750 with tilt capabilitiy.
I'm not saying this is the best blade for you, but there are huge differances between the light duty and the heavy duty blades.

I actually can't give You the price I payed offhand . It was part of the package when I bought my machine .
I do, however, remember that the sales staff thought it was too much for the 3130 .So far they've been wrong . /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif John

Re: Best medium to heavy duty 7\' rear blade

I am also shopping for a tractor (NH TC40DA) and am looking for a 7' manual ofset rear blade. I've been quoted a Gearmore GB70, a Rhino, and a Bison. I've been having a tough time figuring it out, the prices are all over the place. Does anyone have experience with these brands?

Re: Best medium to heavy duty 7\' rear blade

Bought an 84" heavy duty blade made by Midwest and was being sold under the Kioti brand earlier this year. I can't keep up with all the suppliers... don't think Midwest OEM's for Kioti any more, but you could probably find it under the Midwest name directly.

This thing weighs upwards of 700 lbs and is built like a tank. As long as there is some moisture in the ground, it will peel and turn packed gravel like a road grader. Haven't used it in winter yet, but it should do equally well with snow.

Had previously looked at a Woods HD blade, which looked very similar and just as good as the Midwest in terms of ruggedness and quality.

Your 5030 would be a perfect match for this beast, or one like it.
