I have a Frontier 60" rear blade on my JD2210. I just got it a couple of weeks ago but I plan on using it to help snow clearing my small gravel parking lot in the winter. From the playing I have done so far, I can see me digging up lots of gravel in the winter. Should I get some skid shoes for it?

gsk. That would be a good option. But being thrifty myself ( read cheap ) , I just plow with the blade reversed . It leaves a bit off snow on the driveway ,but it also leaves most of the gravel. I plow going forward with the top link shortened to make the blade less aggressive . John

The answer is yes.
Using the convex side of the blade is good for moving small amounts of snow or maybe up to 6", but to MOVE serious snow and have it curl and roll out of the way nothing works like using the blade the way it was designed. Besides, you're not going to want to flip the blade around every time you want to move snow travelling in the other direction. It will happen.
You can get skid shoes at TSC pretty cheap and make your own brackets that can bolt onto the blade. A piece of angle iron with a piece of gas pipe to slide the shoe into welded on and a bunch of washers to give it some adjustment.
Works for me on my gravel drive.
Some advice... find a common spot to push all the snow into for your little snow mountain. You're going to lose some gravel anyway from it sticking to the snow as it's plowed so it might as well be in one place.

Freds makes a good point about the snow depth. I didn't consider it in my previous post. 6-10 inches is a big storm locally . Hope You're in my league as far as Snow,not Freds ! . John

I have the skid shoes for my Woods rear blade. They really work out well. The Woods and Frontier are the same blade. If you can make a set do that, if not you will pay top dollar for these. Mine were around $175 including shipping from the dealer. Here is the Woods part number; 28597.

I would check around at snow plow dealers for a stock unit. I don't believe that it will cost any where near what you have paid. I know that Fisher plows use a similar unit. They are also called "mushroom shoes"
