My 13kw/12kw surge/rated pto gen came in freight today. I've read the manual, and unpacked it. Friday I plan on mounting it on a skid on my carryall, and hooking it up and powering it up to test it.

here's a pic from their website.

Nice looking generator. What did that set you back? Can I assume you run it at the normal 540 PTO speed.

I'll be very interested to see how it's mounted. That is not obvious from the picture.

Please let us know how it works. I have been thinking of buying one for sometime now. Thanks,

Chris, I guess you couldn't get it before Frances came through. How did the hurricane effect you there? I have two tons of limbs and cones all over the place.
One large limb hit the roof, but only the bushy part and the heavier end drug it on down to the ground, no damage.
I got pretty lucky in my opinion as I was sure the wind was going to push over a wateroak right at the end of my house. The pines around me are all 80-100 ft tall, and many of them are within stiking distance of my house. I'm relieved for the time being, but Ivan may be causing us more pain soon.
The power just came back on a couple of hours ago. Did without for better part of 5 days.
I hope you faired well also. John

It lists for 1100$.. but I got mine for 999$ ( sale? )

If I would have ordered it right after charlie i would have had it for frances.. but I waited too long. Come sin truck freight.. 1 week or 2 weeks depending on shipping options.

It comes stapled to a shipping pallet, to which you can then bolt it down to ,with a handfull of small hardware from the hardware store.

There is also an optional mounting kit you can buy that gives it large flanges with multiple hole sin it to give you a variety of mounting options.. like to mount it to a concrete slab.. etc.

I'm pretty sure mines going to be mounted on that pallet, and then bolted ontop my 3pt carrier.

We got minor hurricane damage... no power for a few days.. lost a chicken, and a 10x16 section of my pole barn collapsed ( on top of my ford 8n )..

I'm buying the correct power plug today so i can hook up my well if power goes out again. Well, and fridge are my main concerns. I can do without hot water an a/c.

This generator was on ebay. I thought that it seemed like a good deal for $1250. It included the trailer and the shaft for that price.

Soundguy,
Going to check frequency/Voltage and such with an O scope for us ? I have been wondering how well they worked and am not familiar with the brushless ones. Are they supposed to be more stable or just less maintenance ?
Sorry to hear about the Tractor, will it recover ?

You bet! I've already got my vom / scope out and ready. I'll power that baby up on friday and hit it with a variety of loads and watch the sine wave.

Primarily the brushless ones are less maintenance ( no maintenance ).. but without brushes.. there should be a side benefit of less emi/rfi noise. as you might find comming off the armature of a genny with brushes. Should be a true-er sine wave as well.
