Tractors in the shop. 2 weeks for a 50 hour checkup.
The hitch seems to be setup for cat #2 3 point. Land pride wants me to use 1 and 2" sleeves on all my 3 point tools to fit there cat #1 Quick hitch. The sleves they provide are to short. On the bottom pins with a 1" sleeve and my 1.75" surface to pin .25 of sleeve is touching. It works but I have .25" holding up land prides 798 pound tiller. I emailed them. Only, got a bunch of spects. They were not interested in lessoning to me. I just bought $4200 62" reverse till and $498 Quick Hitch. You would think they would give me an ear! Why should I use sleeves on all my tools when I bought for Cat #1 hitch? Don't buy Land Pride's Quick hitch!!!

Welcome to TBN! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The only thing I can think of that might cause an 'overlap' of only .25" of collar on your pin would be if the collars were put on backwards. I hesitate to mention this because it is so rudimentary but I also know I've made really basic mistakes far worse than that before. That having been said, the proper way to install a sleeve over a pin is with the long, narrow end first leaving the shorter, wider collar portion to the outside then securing it in place with the provided hardware after aligning the holes in the sleeve and the pin. When you're finished you should have the narrow portion for the hook 'bracketed' by the wider portion of the pin and the implement itself to the inside and the wider collar portion of the sleeve to the outside.

As to quick hitches in general, I find that if you have implements from different manufacturers and different decades there are usually some 'adjustments' needed. When I first mentioned to a young farmer friend of mine that my quick hitch (a Speeco from Tractor Supply for $169) didn't do all I'd hoped because not all my implements seemed to be the same dimensions he gave me an answer I'll never forget. "Why do you think all us farmers have welders?" /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

It's been my experience that quick hitches are terribly misnamed; Quicker, maybe... but not quick as I define it. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Good luck with your new equipment. I hope this helps. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
