Re: Added Pat\'s; Now Tiller PTO is too short..........

Well, mine has a pin, and it sure seems TIGHT in the yoke. I hit it with some PB blaster and will try to attack it this evening.......

Thanks for all the tips.

Re: Added Pat\'s; Now Tiller PTO is too short..........

Wow, Press fit is RIGHT! I drove the roll pin out pretty easily. Wow was the yoke a tight fit to the male tube. I soaked it a coupla times in PB Blaster (which soaked right in). Clamped the tube in a good vise, put a 1/2 inch shaft in the vise grips, and started wacking around the collar on the yoke.

It sure didn't want to come loose, but with my persisted whacks, it finally came off. Will take all the pieces to TSC Monday and see what I can find...............

For now, I'll only extend the male end. If it doesn't hold (which I can't imagine), I'll redo both the male and female during the winter.

For now, I got some tilling jobs to finish...............

If the couple of inches the "Pat's" added to the length of your driveshaft caused it to unhook, it was too short to start with. I would raise the tiller and find the shortest length of shaft needed and cut to that length, collapsed, minus 1".

Agree it might have been too short to start with. I measured and Pat's moves the machine back 4".

Dealer is one hour away, so I'll see what TSC charges for this stuff.

Re: Added Pat\'s; Now Tiller PTO is too short..........

I agree with Maximum. When I went to Pat's my spreader shaft was too short so I went on line a found a quick connect PTO extender that solved the problem. TSC carries an extender but it isn't a quick connect and uses a pin to hold it, which would have worked fine except my 4400 PTO shaft doesn't have a hole thru it. I think the quick connect extender cost $20 - 25.00. Fastest and cheapest way to solve this problem.

Re: Added Pat\'s; Now Tiller PTO is too short..........

Try adding one of those pto shaft stub extenders. Should add 4" or so tho the overall length.. not to mention move the geometry back a tad.

TSC carries the 1 3/8 to 1 3/8 stubs.. they simply pin on.
