Big rock / bent blade

Went and bent a blade on my 6' Land Pride cutter #RCR1572, I was mowing a long over grown pasture and hit a huge rock. The cutter started to vibrate so I checked it out and one of the blades is bent downward. My question is how in the heck do you get to the bolts that hold the blades on. It appears to be under the skid plate, but I can't tell how it comes off either. My manual doesn't give any info other than totorque specs and part number. The unit runs smooth till I hit full PTO speed then it gets to shaking, so I think the only thing that got damaged was the blade, or so I hope. Hard to belive that as thick as those blades are they could bend, but that was one big rock.

Joe, I don't know how new it is, but almost anytime you replace one blade, you need to replace both to maintain the proper balance. And I'm surprised the manual doesn't show how to remove the blades. I'm not familiar with the Landpride, so I'm not sure how theirs comes off. The Bush Hog I had, had an access hole in the deck that you put a socket on to remove one blade, then turn it until the nut for the other blade was under that access hole. On the Howse I have now you have to remove the nut from the spindle and drop the blades and "stump jumper" pan as one unit, then you can get to the nuts that hold the blades on. And if the blade is bent, I would definitely change it before using it again.

Thanks bird, I'll check out the nut on the spindle, there is no access hole on the top. I'll definitly replace both blades.

Finally got the new blades this past weekend and wanted to share my adventure in removing the nuts that hold the blades on. After breaking two rachets, one 1/2" and one 3/4" using a 3' cheater bar I ended up driving the tractor about 2 miles to a friend of mine who has a very heavy duty 3/4" drive impact. With the way those puppies are torqued on I doubt that any thing else would ever break them loose. The good part is I got to drive the L3410 for a couple of miles and got a grab hook welded onto the top of the bucket.
