Sub-Compact Implements

I just picked up a glossy new brochure for the King Kutter brand "Sub-Compact" tractor attachments. Right on the cover is a Kubota BX2200 with a rear 3 pt. finish mower. KK, is calling their new series the XB (hmmm.... BX, XB...I wonder what JD will think when they finally come to market). A couple items that appeaered unique... A sub-soiler that comes with a bolt one potato plow. The 48 inch rotary cutter has 2 rear guide wheels. The new series are painted black, adn follow the KK line.

Thanks for the heads-up 70boss! It's good to see a best-buy company like King Kutter step up to the plate with sub-compact implements. Black and orange, hmm. Just curious, did they list a tiller?

Got impatient, so I checked the King Kutter home page. No luck, as it hasn't been updated with sub-compact info.

I picked up a separate brochure on the tiller they make. They make a 48, 60, and 72 inch tiller that really looks overbuilt. The 48 inch would be suitable for th BX, and it can be offset to cover your wheel tracks. These tillers do not use a chain, they are gear driven, and the gears run in an oil bath...looks a lot stronger than the chain drives. The system is protected by a slip clutch on the PTO input. For the money it is hard to beat the KK line. I have yet to hear negatives.

I too have seen the KK XB line brochure and, in addition, spoke with KK about the new products. They told me they bought a Kubota BX 2200 and used it to be sure the new line fit the BX tractors just right. Very impressive. I ordered my from Coastal Farm and Home Supply here in Eugene, Oregon. It will arrive tomorrow, just in time for some weekend fun behind the wheel! I'll let you know how it all works out.

I don't have a way to scan the brochure, but if you call or email King Kutter (the contact information is on the web page) they will send you one like they did for me.

I picked up my King Kutter XB 48" rotary cutter from Coastal Farm and Home Supply (which, for those of you who live in the Willamette Valley of Oregon is an outstanding chain of stores) on Friday night. On Saturday I mowed my fields (about 2 acres) just to get a feel for how it worked (great!). Today I mowed about a half acre of really nasty brush (black berrys, poison oak and a bunch of other junk). The cutter tore throught it like it was nothing. Very impressive.

Since I have not used a cutter other than this one, I can't say how the fact that it was specifically designed for Kubota BX line of tractors may or may not have made this one work better with my BX 2200 than another would have. I can say, however, that it fit great and worked like a charm. I can't wait until tomorrow (there is always more brush to be cut here in Oregon).
