Best deal on a 7\' rotary cutter (bush hog)?

Since my lot size has grown, my good ole', solid as a rock, 5' rotary cutter has become too small or me. I'm planning on selling it and going with a 7' rotary cutter. Any comments on what the best deal would be for a 7 footer? My 5' one was purchased on the strength of the gear box and price. I added plating and strengthened the deck quite a bit and it has been great. I do not even know who made it, but it will chop up about anything I can push over. I've literally chopped up 3 to 4" trees without any problems. I've also hit more "hidden" concrete blocks than I'd like to have; still without any damage. I'm hoping that maybe somebody has some experience with some larger models.

If you like cutting up the heavy stuff like trees and rocks.. then I'd stay away from the economy line units. However Some of those 'economy' brands also offer HD units. For instance.. Howse makes a HD rotary mower... I bought one of their 10' mowers. Like you have said.. I've so far mowed 3 and 4 ' across ant mounds down.. nocked over some woody 2 and 3" stuff accitentall, and then proceded to chip it.. ( 20' tree got caught and knocked over.. mower engufed it without a sound.. ). Rocks.. lots of rocks.. etc. ( all 1/2 inch construction for uprigts and seams.on that HD10 model.. Decking is hard to say.. but may be 1/4.. but it doesn't bow when walked across Lift wheels and supports are 3/8 and 1/2 and even the then metal guard over the gearboxes is as thick as the deck material onmy 5' KK.... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

So far so good.

You're right about the IMC 702. Not sure what they cost now, but I've had mine for 2 years and it will definitely whack and stack...BobG in VA
