Don,

I don't know how to post pictures with a PM so I'll post here. There are a couple different angles to view. Plates on the side are for inserting uprights when I'm hauling brush away. Only thing I had to buy was cylinder and hoses, scavenged every thing else. Call me a junk collector but it all gets put to use some day or another.

Happy Holidays

Haven't had a chance to drain fluid from cylinder yet. Will post a dump position picture when I get new fluid from new tractor exchanged.

Steve,

Nice job! Fabricating a hydraulic dump feature is a great addition. What size is the hydraulic cylinder and how much do you think it will lift?

Nice looking trailer, it looks like it will handle quite a heavy load. I made one last winter but haven't finished the dump feature of it yet, I was too impatient to use it.

Glad you did. Interesting trailer.

Its a 3 1/2" cylinder by 24" stroke. The bed is 4' X 6'. Back when I built it I had no idea about hydraulics and I think I way over sized it for all it had to do. At 2000psi it will push almost 10 ton. Not sure if trailer would hold 10 tons, but I have had over 3500lbs in it once and it pushed that up with the tractor at idle (albeit very slowly). You just have to be careful with anything that sticks to the body as when it dumps and stays as one big clump the weight all shifts over the pivot point tries to lift on the coupler. I've had it happen once where the clump slid and the sudden jerk on the coupler popped the coupler off the ball and the hitch came up and luckily caught the drawbar. Not sure if you can see it in the photo but I have an eyebolt welded on the hitch that I lift the trailer up with using a short piece of chain and a hook attached to the drawbar. Saves on the back when the trailer is loaded with something. Will try and get closeups of eyebolt and lifting chain if anyone is interested.

Happy Holidays

Nice job. Good tip about hitch and coupler, I wouldn't have thought about that.

Yes, I'd like to see a picture with the eye bolt and lifting chain.
