Ok, Thanks Kiota John. So I guess I would be safe with implements rated for 18-? PTO? cutters, mowers, etc.
For now, the box blade is a 'for sure' iten, and I have decided to stick with the 4' model. It seems that there are a limited number of 4' models out there. Too bad, I think I can buy a 5' cheaper. Corriher has a 4' for about $400 and they are not really that far out of the way for me on my trip down from NY.
Anybody know of any better deals in my area I will be about 75 miles west of Knoxville? Also, any farm equip auction coming up in that area after April 1?

I know that prices have increased over the last year due to the steel price increases, but you should still be able to find a 4' BB for less than $400. I believe Corriher's boxes are made by Midwest as is my Kioti BB, and you should be able to get one for under $350. You may be able to pull a 5' box standard, not heavy duty, but I'd try to find one you can try out first. When it comes to using the rippers on a 5', you may find that if you just remove a couple of them, you can use that box on your Iseki. I've found it surprising at times that some tractors do just fine with implements a little larger than recommended, but I try to stay fairly close to rating because there's no telling what long term damage may be occuring. You could probably use something rated at 18 HP. Some implement manufacturers use engine power ranges such as 15- 25HP tractors to operate this XXX. Just make sure the 3pt can lift the weight, and that the power requirements are not going to make it hard on your engine. Iseki makes a good engine and it should do you well. John

Yep, I was even thinking about Homier, they sell a 5' for $229, that's plus shipping, but I might find a show nearby and save that. Could it be a lighter weight and that's why so much cheaper? What do the rest of you think of that possibility?

I think, for your purposes, that the Homier BB would do just fine. I believe it weighs about 100 more pounds that my 4', standard duty Kioti. They say it's for 20-30 HP tractor, so yours should be able to pull it. Like I said, you may have to compromise at times, as in pull up some rippers. But the Homier also has reversible, replaceable cutting edges which many don't have.

Thanks, I noticed on their site that they also have a tiller for about $140, seems like a good deal to me. I also notice that they have a 24" scoop, but I can't find the price anywhere, I though I had seen another thread on here dealing with those, I thought the price was about $150. they have shows here in my area a couple times a year but I can't remember just when. I will be leaving here the end of March. Wondered if anyone here was aware of any of their shows in the knoxville area?

Harleymsn,
Congratulations on Retiement, I just did the same thing from the Army and Tennessee sure is nice! I am just NORTH of you in Morristown. I am Exit 12 on I-81 right in between Knoxville and Kingsport/Johnson City. I have 30 acres plus my Dad's place next door of 100 Acres. REALLY LIKED the Barn if you want to call it that. I was looking at a used Mobile Home for an Office to work out of but now you have got me to thinking! How did you do the interior??? I would really like to see some pictures, IF you could! That just might be the plan. Did you do it yourself or hire it out???

I have two recommendations for you on the equipment you are looking for.

1. Fort loudon Tractor & Equipment Company
707 E Lee Highway
Loudon TN 37774
(865) 458-4200
They sell Kioti and Cub Cadet (Went there looking at Kioti) but they also have a lot of traded in and used equipment. Super nice folks and IF thy had not been on the south side of Knoxville I might have bought from them.

2. Flatwood Tractor Company
809 Highway 25/32
White Pine TN 37876
(865) 674-0444
I go to Church with the Owner and SUPER Guy and their specialty is Used Equipment. Sell only used Tractors but NEW and USED equipment. The owner goes to a lot of auctions and he also has NEW equipment as well. Integrity and Honesty and probably do you right. He is on the NORTH side of Knoxville and might be able to recommend and sell to you for a decent price.

Have not bought from either dealer, but as I said earlier just super nice folks at both dealerships. Hopefully I have helped you and would like to see some more pictures and details of your Barn! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Actually, your a bit west of me. I am in Cumberland county near the Morgan county line and surrounded by the Catoosa Wildlife Mgmt area.
The barn is not yet finished inside, will do that after I arrive in April. I have a 27' travel trailer and will set that up at a local campground for a month or 2. Whe had decided all along to put up the barn and divide it off. My wife is a woodcarver (and instructor) so we planned on a wood shop area for her saws etc. a studio area for her classes and a full bathroom. I still need to put in the septic system, the well and run the electric and phone lines. They are all on schedule for April. Since i planned to do most of the building myself it seemed to make sense to do the barn first. I have not poured a floor yet as I wanted to get the plumbing in first.
As for the barn construction, I had planned to do it myself. I had plans for a 28x40 barn and started pricing materials. On a whim, I contacted National Barn (near Nashville) and they quoted me what i thought wa a good price. (within $1000 of my material cost) I was not planning on anything really big going in so the barn is only 10' high, but it is 30x50 w/ 12' skiding door , commercial grade man door and 30' of ridge vent. The whole barn took 4 days with a 4 man crew and the total cost was $8900. As you can tell, i am VERY pleased with the job they did. I will post some pics after April when i do the inside.
Thanks again on the dealer contacts, there is one in Wartsburg and about 3 in Crossville. I will be checking on them as soon as I can.

SKOALMAN, I wanted to say that I saw your post with the pics of your new NH's and they are beauty's! I would have loved to have gotten a new one, but first things first. BTW, have you ever met up with any other TBN members? I saw a post where they had planned a meeting near Knoxville earlier this year, but never saw a follow up on it. Looks like we are about 125 miles apart, but I will be heading right past your area every April and August heading back and forth to the races at Bristol.

Hey Harleymsn,

You must be right around the corner from me, I'm on Seed Tick off of WMA which goes into Catoosa from airport road. Actual mailing address is rockwood.

As far as dealers, The New Holland guy down in Crossville treated me great, I didn't buy from him though, (got a better overall deal from Tri County that could be filled as fast as I could raise the dollars), but will probably do most of my service work there. When I was in it was a sat morn, place was hopping but he sat me in his office (was the owner) for about an hour putting together a couple package prices. Same day I went over to the Kubota dealer, place was empty and I spent 30 minutes walking the lot before anyone checked on me.

For implements, I'm told Taylor Farm equipment down in Freindsville is good. I'm headed that way in the next couple weeks to pick up a PHD and probably a back blade too.

Regarding a "get together" I would certainly be interested in putting some faces to the voices....
