SQ720 Bushhog

I am working with the dealer now to equip an L4610(waiting for it to come in) for amongst other things, brush hogging. He is recommending a Bushhog squealer 720(72"). We will be using it for mowing rough grass areas and about 16 acres of pasture. Is the squealer series heavy enough for pasture work? He is talking about $1200 for this unit. I am trying to balance price and size. I am sure that I could get done faster in some areas with a seven or eight foot unit, but the six footer will be easier for be to get into tight places around trees, fences, etc. I can go to a heavier medium duty series, but the heavier clearing we are having done bit by bit by a local heavy equipment operator with dozer and excavator as we can. Anyone using the sq series now?

I just purchased this model Bushhog for my L4310 and paid in the same price range for the unit. So far, we have mowed pastures with grass and heavy undergrowth. Some grass has been as tall as 5' in height and the equipment has handled all I have thrown its way--so far. I wanted a medium duty brush hog instead of this unit, but I'll have to admit that for a light duty brush hog, this equipment appears to be pretty solid.

Any problems yet with the solid rearend as opposed to a chain guard? Have you made your first dent yet? And how do you like the 4310?

For my use, I have had no problems with the metal guard on the rear of this brush hog. After creating quite a racket while tearing up several 2-3 inch diameter pecan tree limbs, I still have yet to damage this equipment-I'm sure it will happen. I just use this equipment in too rough an area for it to not eat something it should not.
I have an L4310 with the HST. I like this tractor for my purposes and would not want anything smaller in size. For front end loader use and heavy brush hogging in areas that often require constant changes in direction, it appears to do just what I need.

I have been using an SQ720 for sometime and highly recommend it. I power it with a 2000 New Holland TC40D, and it has never given any trouble. I have put a few good size dents on the sides but it's only cosmetic. Take care, Sam

I'm using the BH SQ720 behind a TC45D on about 18 acres of level to hilly pasture & edges of the woods. Have about 40 hours on the BH. No problems with 4-5 ft' tall grass/weeds, 1-2 inch saplings & wild rose.

As a new 'bushhogger', I have to admit this first time I used a bushhog of any kind. First time I used it to clear the saplings/trees, I was looking for a foxhole....scared the bejeebers out of me.
