CT Tractor Supply - \" Bale Carrier \"

Hey folks...just talked to Tractor Supply in CT. They were pretty helpful over the phone, gave me some information, but could'nt fill in all the blanks.....so I turn to you.

I'm looking for a 3-pt pallet mover. TSC says they have a KK carry-all ( angle - iron style ) with a capacity of 1000 #. They also have what they called a 'bale carrier' that they said has wider fork spacing and a 2000 # capacity. They couln't give me a mfr name or model though. He said it was only listed as a bale carrier. Its quite a bit more $$ though...$ 259.00 as opposed to $ 90 for the KK carry-all.

Anyone have any idea what they may be talking about ?
I searched KK's site, but saw nothing. Also tried a general web search but got mostly bale spears and trailers.

I'd like to have some idea of what it is before I load up and travel to CT. Its not a cross country trek, just far enough for me to think before going /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif.

Thanks in advance.

Not familiar with either product, but make sure you measure the pallets first and get forks that are spaced close enough together to go between the pallet skids. Some forks are too wide for pallets. btdt.

Re: CT Tractor Supply - \" Bale Carrier \"

Billbill1 posted a good picture of the Kk carryall in This thread.

The bale carrier is more heavy duty and physically larger. TSC does have a web site (www.tractorsupplyco.com) but they do not show the bale carrier. Their site is not as good as it used to be...

The carry-all might be rated to PICK UP 1000lbs, but I wouldn't go bouncing along with 1000lbs on them. They're a bit on the light side for that. I've ruined one with no more than 500lbs of rock on it. The "pallet forks" are a bit stronger. I'd be carefull about taking them to their rated limit.

I'm not sure that the forks on a bale carrier are what you want. They are usually round, not flat like the carry-all. If I were you, I would talk with a local welding shop about making one for you. I don't know about your TC35, but my Cub has a 3pt lift capacity of 3410 pounds and I would not want to be limited to a 1000 capacity. A local welding shop can easily make one with a capacity nearer your tractor. You should have a farmer near you. Chat with them and they can point you to a local welder.

Re: CT Tractor Supply - \" Bale Carrier \"

I believe the bale carrier, which is nice and heavy-duty has too wide a spread to fit most pallets. I may be wrong, but it's what I seem to remember when I saw one a while back. John

Re: CT Tractor Supply - \" Bale Carrier \"

I suspect KiotiJohn may be right about the spacing on that platform bale carrier, but you could probably contact someone at TSC who knows. I moved a lot of hay with a similar platform bale carrier, and it was also used as a pallet mover, but the one I used was home made by the farmer who owned it, so the spacing was OK.
