I am wanting to buy a new tiller. I like the first choice tillers, how well do they work and hold up.

A great question to ask about tillers is:

Where can I purchase replacement tines from?

A limited source for replacement parts could be a problem down the road. I don't have any personal experience with FirstChoice, and don't know about their tine replacements, but you should know before you buy.

I've had one for 2-3 years now and zero mechanical problems. I till the garden in the spring a couple of times, and after the crops are harvested I till it again.

I've tilled some lumps from the yard and a patch or two upon the hillside that was a bit rough from box blading.

I got my FC at Sweet Tractors, he's on the board and I'm sure if'n a tine is needed Ken can hook you up.

I've had my FC tiller for about the same time as theboman and I have had great luck with it. The people at SweetFarm are excellent to work with.

I have used a FC tiller for the past two years. I am very satisfied with the performance and I have had no problems.

If you buy a FC you may want to make a set of dollies for it. They are simple to make and they make it real easy to hookup and remove. I am sure that the same system will work on other tiller brands also.

Nice Dolly, JWE: At first I thought that the pin was to hold the tiller end on the dolly until you have it attached to your 3ph and are ready to raise it; but now I'm not sure; How does the pin lock?

MadDog.. The pin just slides over the skid. The dollies are very easy to install and remove. I can push my tiller around my garage floor with one hand.

Attached is a better picture of the retaining pin.

Good idea JWE. I think I will have to do something like that too for the new tiller I just got.

Thanks, I think I understand it now. The pin is long enough so that it goes through both sides of the angle iron and over the tiller skid that is resting on the dolly. That's a neat idea.

Looks like it would be pretty easy to make with just a bit of cutting and drilling on the channel bar, which I think I can handle with a band saw and drill press.
