Pat's Easy Change Pats Easy Change or the Quick Hitch????

What do you think of the Quick Hitch? It mounts to the tractor 3 pt. hitch and you just back up to the 3pt. hitch implement hook up and go, with the exception of something with a pto shaft, then you will need to dismount and hook the pto shaft up.

With Pats Easy Change I will have to hook up the top link each time, no big deal.

My tractor is category 1. Will the boxy Quick Hitch for category 1 equipment really hook up to all category 1 implements? What if the rotary mower hitch is slightly different from the harrow?

I had a 1pt hitch 140 Farmall for over 20 years; all I had to do was back up, click on and go, with the exception of the rotary mower. I am looking for something to make the 3 pt. hitch hook-up a little easier. (The 1975 140 Farmall with the 1 pt hitch was ahead of its time, only thing you had to use only 1 pt. hitch implements).

I think you answered your own question. The Quick Hitches work very well when all the implements are built to the SAME standard. The Pat's system works well when the implments are NOT built to the same standard. Pat's is also the only one that works with a Post Hole Digger.

I just installed the Pat's Easy Change yesterday and tried it out today. Very simple to install and a breeze to use. I looked at the TSC brand and it wouldn't work on all of my implements but the Pat's will.

Bob, to clarify something you said, Pat's will work on implements that have "some" different spaced pins.

However, it might not work on all. Yes, you can spread the arms out to compensate for a wider spacing. What I found was one implment that had way wide pins. By the time I spread the arms, the throat on Pats was at a severe enough angle, the pin wouldn't go in. Now I could have reset Pats and yes it would work, but that's not very efficient.

Someday, I'm going to weld new mounts on the implement closer to my other implements, and then Pat's will work. Also, my new criteria for any implement to purchase is to measure the mount spacing!

Ron, you are correct and I was making a generalization. In fact when I got my Pat's system I had one implement that was much wider than all my others, it was not aligned well and I ended up setting my Pats so that it was not in perfect alignment with ANY of my implements but not too far out of alignment with them either. It was a good compramise. I have since gotten rid of that particular implement.

Don't be surprised to find that Pat's easy change is not any easier than your extendable lower links. You may even have problems fitting Pat's to the extendable links. I could not find the thread. But I'm sure there was one on this subject.

I see you've decide on the Pat's, and you're probably correct in doing so. Ron mentioned there could be problems with extendable lower links, but I don't have them so I don't know, but I do know the Pat's works great for all my implements, and a couple of them are narrower than standard.
The quick hitches, unless they're the ones with adjustable widths, wouldn't have worked for me, and the price would have been to much for adjustable. John

I did an extensive search for information on using Pat's easy change on a tractor with extendable lower links. I still cannot find it.
While doing the search I noted one thing. All the post seem to be about tractors that do not have extendable links.
Two TBNers standout. Bob Skurka and Henro. Both of these members have 2 tractors. They have installed PEC on there tractors that do not have extendable links. No where could I find in their post a reference to them installing them on their B2910's. Which have similar links as Smittyd3 L3130. In fact Henro was thinking about putting the B2910 parts on his BX2200 except the price for the parts was much higher than PEC.
I would suggest that Smittyd3 contact PEC and make sure that the links will fit his tractor.
I wonder if Smittyd3 problems are related to a new tractor that the extendable links and balls are tight. When they have loosened up it will be much easier.
I moved from a Farmall 340 that had 2 pt quick hitch to my B2910. It was a pain to get my 3PH attachments hooked up. Until all the parts loosened up it was a real pain.
Don't get me wrong. I think PEC is a great product. I made a similar system for my Farmall that allowed me to hook up 3PH attachments.

I plan to use a chain for the top link on my LX4 cutter. Pat's will work better with it, because I'd otherwise be taking the QH off when using the cutter.

So far, putting castors or dollies underneath the cutter has made it relatively easy to put on and to take off. When I get my carryall and want to switch back and forth between them (and possibly my drawbar, too), I may get a PEC.

Don't see the PEC being that easy to use if all hitch pins aren't all exactly 26" apart. Otherwise, the biggest amount of work involved with getting the draft arms on or off is the loosening of the turnbuckles attached to them to allow them to swing to the side.
