I am looking for any input i can get on the Harley power rake.
I am getting a tractor with a loader and a tiller and want a power rake for the many lawns that are new or need redone in my area. They are a very expensive tool so i am trying to get as much information either hands on or at least witnessed them in operation. We have none in my area to check out.
This could be a good thing /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Any help at all would be appreciated. PS I do have the video from Harley and a video on a tool called the TR3. Thanks, Greg

Do a search for power rake.
Here is one of the better threads. Be sure to follow links within the thread. Click Here.

I hooked up my Harley Pro 8 rake yesterday. My plan is that once I wear out the bottom roller to replace it with a carbide roller which I have been told they make a retrofit for. I toss and turn between getting a tiller versus a carbide roller and using my boxscraper and it's rippers. I think ideally it would be great to have a tiller but with costs a concern, I would prefer to have the Harley and a carbide roller over the tiller. The Harley rake does a incredible job. Perhaps the best photos here at TBN are from Derek Rowski. He has a T-8 which would be ideal.

I have read through this thread and most of the threads linked to it. Looks like an awesome piece of equipment. Does anyone know what kind of price range these rent for? Could I pull it behind my old Ford 640?

Local dealer rents the Land Pride version of the Harley power rake for $175. Pick it up Friday evening and return early Monday morning. Many rental places have them. But they are for Bobcat hitches.
Don't know if it will fit your 640. You have to have hydraulic outlets for it.

Rat,

I had a guy come over last year with a T-8 to install a large lawn area on my last property. I couldn't find anything to fit my BX at the time...I tried though /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif. To say it was impressive would be an understatement. They are amazing implements.

Jim, I have posted in the past that even the Harley rake factory video does not do it justice. I think you need to use it or at least see it to find out how truly great this implement is.

I watched the guy run his Harley off his new L3830 (drooling)....I was blown away at the quality of the soil left behind. It was like some kind of miracle machine. Especially since I did my last lawn by hand with a rake and shovel and it didn't look half as nice for 10x the effort.

That's all the guy did for a living...He prepared and seeded soil for residential and commercial lawns. He was quite busy, and for good reason.

I'd be interested in what he charged for his time. I am trying to get an idea as to what the going rate would be for joe average homeowner.
