Sold theKubota L2250DT and now have a Kubota M4900DT
I want to add a Farmi Log Winch to my Kubota L2250. Two models would work, the JL290 17-30 hp and the JL351 20-40hp. My pto hp is rated at 21. Would the JL351 work my tractor to hard? I do hope to upgrade in the future to a larger tractor but for now the 2250 is it and I have and I have lots of work for it to do. Does anyone have either of these winches?
Thanks
David

The 351 would follow a move to a larger tractor better, but currently the smaller winch is a better fit to your machine.

I'd buy the larger one personally!

Have you seen the Tajfun winch. Many of the loggers in our area use them over the Farmi. It seems better built, more features at a better price.

I know some folks that use them that made the switch and say the Tajfun is better. This is just what I have been told by users so I am not knocking the Farmi just throwing out another potential option.

Tajfun Log Winch

Good Luck!

I run a JL601 on a 30 pto hp Kubota. It works fine. I suggest you measure the widest point between your lift arms and match that to the largest Farmi with that distance between the lift points. Make sure the model you pick doesn't exceed the lift capacity of the 3 pt. hitch. Maybe you can go to a JL501.

Never do a side pull from the upper point if you oversize the winch based on the tractor size. A large winch can roll a small tractor in a heartbeat on a side pull.

This is wild, just posted about my Tajfun buy and then see this thread, look at some of the differences I posted in this forum. The Tajfun to me is more bang for the buck and I can get it the cheapest delivered.

I ran a farmi 351 for a while and traded for a 501. Both are excellent winches. It is hard for me to see anything wrong with them. Just make sure to get the one with the "dozer blade" so that you have something to pull against. I also second the note about pulling straight off the rear of the tractor. I almost took over my 4500# 2120 in a split second with about a 30 degree pull when the log snagged. The Farmi 5 year clutch warranty and ease of maintaince is hard to beat. I don't know the othe rbrand from first hand experience, but from the pictures it looks lighter duty? could be an optical illusion /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

In the like model the Tajfun is 200 lbs heavier. Look at some of the other differences I posted in my thread.

Sparkkky, where is the comparison? I did not see it but it has been a long day and I may have just overlooked it.

Thanks,
