Grapple Pirahna vs. Anbo Grapple

Hi All,

Been researching a grapple that will work on my TC40 and JX85. Just got some quotes this morning from Anbo and Pirahna and there's quite a difference. I know the Anbo is the best one out there, but is it really worth double the price? Anyone with a Piranha grapple? Here are the prices I've got and this includes the QA adapter, hoses, and shipping to Missouri.

Anbo 72" - $3420.00
Pirahna 72" - $1850.00

I have a 72" pirahna grapple on my 5320. I've used it more than expected, with no problems. Also used it on a 270 JD skid steer. Both of these machines are pretty large, and no problems with the pirahna.

Can you reply with a Web link to the Pirahna 72". I'd like to compare the two. (Forget it...I found that link).

I looked at the Anbo a few months ago. They were hard to get cuz they were all being shipped to Florida to clean up from the storms last fall.

Jim, here's the link. I'm looking at either the 66" or 72" model. There is a link to prices but when I called the gals there, they gave me prices less than those listed on the website. The link is just an IP address, but I found it somewhere here on TBN via a search.

There is a 3 week wait for an Anbo.

I have a 66 piranah grapple, i use it on a skidsteer and it works great. If you can't kill it on a skid steer i doubt you can kill it with a tractor. It is a little heavy for my tractor though.

Tom, that Pirahna grapple looks like it will do everything you need with a TC40. I also like their pallet forks and 3PH adapter. Thanks for the link.

I'm mid-way in my project of adding a grapple (single 18" wide) to my rock bucket. When I finish, I'll post a set of pictures in the Projects forum.

I've seen worse than the Piranha, but for that price difference there's got to be something missing. If you are looking to lift & sift the Piranha might be a better deal whereas the Anbo seems to be set up to hog-out a bit better.

The Anbo is a really, really nice piece that is made out of AR400 & T1 steels. These alloys are used in mining trucks & tank armor respectively. The Piranha is made out of A-36, which is another name for regular old mild steel. There's your price difference!

I'm also interested in the weights of the two units. Anbo offers a nice weight chart on their literature, but nothing from Piranha. The Anbo may be able to get by with less steel (stronger alloys) and might actually increase your payload capacity over some competitors.

That piranah grapple should hold up well for your needs. You might also search eBay for grapples, a friend of mine got a good deal on one there.

Tom, the 72" Pirahna is a heavy unit. I use it to load logs (some over 2000#), push brush and clear stumps. My JD 5320 is heavily ballasted and provides a good test for a grapple. I've had no problems other than the end 1" of a couple of tines has bent, I can live with that for half price. I would estimate I have used it over 120 hours in the last year. Good luck, Keith

Thanks all for the comments. I think I'll go with the Pirahna at this point. I'm also trying to get a price on the worksaver grapple.

Jinman, Agree it's probably all I need for my brush work and I can use the extra money for that tiller I'd like to have. I've thought about adding a grapple to my bucket but since I have two FELs now (and a son to work one), I'd like to have a full grapple for my place. I have about 60 acres of creeks and timber and the grapple will get lots of work.

Quick, The weights are similar but the Pirahna is around 50 lbs. lighter. Thanks for the info on the types of steel. I was wondering what the difference between A36 and A400 was. However, I think regular steel will work for my applications, but it does explain the price difference.

Pine, I watched the building of your bucket grapple with great interest. Thanks for sharing that with everyone. I've been watching ebay and will continue to do so. From what I can tell, though, the Pirahna is a good price because they sell directly to the user without a middleman so I don't think I'll find anything much less expensive.
