Just got my tractor with bucket and backhoe - the question I have is - what is the best way to remove and store the backhoe in the smallest amount of space. Do I need to build a stand, someone make a jack? and can I store it somehow with the boom up - did a search didn't see much on this - Please help a newcomer out - thanks

Great question and I have a similiar one since I'm goign to using a Woods BH on my BX. I've seen some posts on dolly systems that other posters have made. They seem to be a good idea since you can unhook with the hydralics like the manuals say, but then you can push it into a corner of the garage. I was thinking of three very heavy duty furniture moved that you can lock the wheels on. A few folks have recommended conecting them via a triangle of pipe.

I'm not sure what I will be doing, but I do want something that allows me to move it around after its off the tractor.

Welcome to TBN!

Do a search for "backhoe dolly"
Be sure to change the range from 1 week (default) to "all posts", you will get lot of hits to look at.
There is a post right now in the Kubota Owning/Operating forum going on now.

SO how do you search for a members posts. I typed the members name in and hit search and get all kinds of error messages and such. I would assume he's on the NH section alot.

Give it a try later. The search is screwed up due to a recent server issue.

Gatc35 thanks so much for the kind words on the dolly. I'll save vmegahertz
the search, just click on my signature link to see pictures. Maybe you can get some ideas from my project to help you with yours. Good luck!

I built a dolly too.

The stroage issue is an important one, but what even more significant to me is the ease of installing the hoe: backing up into the exact spot can take a fair bit of back and forth and (possible) pushing into the hoe by the tractor.

A dolly lets me put the tractor in a convient place and roll the hoe to the eact spot I need it to hook up. Of course thats a genearl reason for dollies and why I have all my stuff on one.

If you have a concrete floor and steel wheels (as per my tricycle design) , its surprising how easy it is to roll a 1000 pound hoe around

Wow - quite the "dolly" - very impressive. Looks like you have the "tools", knowledge and know how - is that a CAD program as well. I'm going to study all of your pictures, drawings and BOM to see if I can take this project on - thanks for all of the great information - V

Actually another TBN member was kind enough to CAD the project for us so that we could share the knowledge here at the TBN site. Thanks for the compliment! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
