I have just recently acquired two new attachments along with new B7500 - an SQ480 Bush Hog and Farm King 60" rear discharge 3pt finish mower. I have some other attachments from my previous tractor, but these are my first two that I can't manipulate by hand.
How do you access the under side of these things for cleaning and maintenance? I've thought about adding a chain block to the support beam in my garage. Just wanted to know how some of you guys handle this.

A winch to a support beam works, so long as the support beam is strong enough./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif But what I usually do is just have the implement attached to the 3-point hitch; shorten the top link to its minimum length, pick up the implement with the 3-point, and then I can get to the bottom of the implement. Of course, I always put jack stands under the implement to make sure it can't fall before I get under it, engine off and brakes set.

The 3ph method doesn't work on my Bush Hog. The top link is connected to a bracket on the implement that swings freely, so tightening it doesn't really help. Also, the highest I can lift it with the 3ph on my B7500 is only about 12". I guess a hoist on the main beam is the way to go.

Thanks

I suppose so if that's as high as you can raise an implement. My Bush Hog finish mower has that swinging link, too, but with the hydraulic top link on the tractor, I can raise the back of the mower above waist high.

Maybe if I figured out a safe way to lock that swinging link in its rear-most position? I'll take a look at it tonight.

Thanks again

Not sure of the type of link arrangement you have on your Bush Hog, but can you temporarily remove the swinging link and hitch the tractor top link directly to the point where the swinging link was attached? This could buy you more angle. Also, as far as lift height goes, do you have two sets of pickup points on your 3-pt lift arms? (my B2410 does, so maybe the B7500 too). If so, the forward-most set should give you additional lift, if your not already set up that way.

I just drive my tractor up the inclined ramp into the barn leaving the bush hog outside which gives me plenty of room to work. Like the other people mentioned be sure to block the implement with jack stands or blockings and do not rely on the 3ph to hold it up.
