There recently was several posts concerning a leveling a turning plow. I am confused and the reason is my turning plow has a differnce of at least 4 inches in height between the lower link pins. I thought this had something to do with the plow running level when plowing if that is not the case then why are they different?
I do admit that mine does not run as level and turn the soil like I think it should, turning too much and sometimes to deep. I always have to keep trying as in try and try again until I am partly satisfied. I am not sure the block under the left would work, perhaps it would. comments please

The plow should be level, right to left, realizing that the tractor, with the right tire in the furrow, is not . Often the plow hook-up to the lower arms has a bend up to it or the difference has to be made up by raising the right arm. The plow needs to be tilted down a hair( fore to aft) with the upper center adjustments so it wants to pull itself into the ground.

With small tractors some plows cannot be shifted enough to the left so the right tire is in the furrow. Many times there is some adjustment on the plow that slides the plow's drawbar but mate such a plow to your machine before you spend your $$. I know an old Ferguson 2 bottom would not work on my Ford 1910 /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Do you have an idea what would happen if you put 6" blocks under the left rear and front wheels of the tractor when on level ground (i.e flat surface)? Try that and see if the plow, when lowered, would sit level (side to side) and if you could then level it front to back with the top link. Sounds like you would be pretty close to level side to side with the 4" you speak of here.
