Finally taking the plunge. Buying a rototiller this weekend. The only thing I am concerned with is the size. I have a Kubota L3000Dt. 32Hp, 28Pto. Mostly sandy soil with some clay. From you guys experience, can I pull a 6' rototiller? CCM lists a 5 and 1/2 footer, would I be better off to go with this? Of course, what I am trying to do is cover my tracks. Thanks in advance. Bob

You can find the minimum recommended pto hp requirements for most tiller brands either on the net or in their product literature. That should probably be the place to start. I'm not sure how wide your tractor is (how wide a tiller it will take to cover the tracks) but you should be able to cover them. Off the top of my head remembering a thread in the Manhindra forum, I believe 28 pto hp may not be enough for many 72" tillers but may be enough for the CCM 66" and possibly their 72". CCI has the pto requirements on their site for easy checking.

I don't think you'd have a problem with 6', however, I think I'd go with the CCM gear drive, or any gear drive for that matter. Requires a little less PTO HP, and no retightening of a chain. John

DR

Last week i bought a a 60" FT King Kutter II, the KK II is a gear driven tiller, the KK is a chain. The KK II was only a hundred more, so that was a no brainer. Plus it looked & felt a lot more stout. I live just south of Sherman if you are going to be in the area before you buy to stop buy & look at it.
I have a L4330 so yours will have no issue I know with the 60" - I am guessing that the 72" would be OK, but make sure they will take it back if it is an issue.

Thank guys. I have already made up my mind to get the CCM tiller. Talked to MC about it. Just looking for "real world" experience. Their site said 25HP was the min for the 6' tiller. Just wondering if I was cutting it too close. Thanks again. Bob
