In pricing cutters at local dealers I was quoted about $100 cheaper for a 60" Land Pride than for a 60" Woods. I have no experience with Land Pride but I do with the Woods. I've always thought very highly of the Woods and from what I'd read I assumed that Land Pride was on the same level quality-wise as Woods. Can anyone give an apples to apples comparison?

Apples to apples according to brochures, the Woods gearboxes are rated for more hp but the LP decks have thicker metal other than that they maybe just as well built. From the two places that I would buy, the economy LP is $50 cheaper than economy Woods.

I have beat the crap out of my Landpride and it shows, I have about 5 pounds of welding rod into it to keep it going. Its weak point was how the Gearbox is attached to the deck.

If I only used it on my place it would have lasted a lifetime.

I might buy soon and if I see the LP improved this problem area after 11
years, I will buy another @$1350 for the rc1872

I have a 60" Land Pride that I'm extremely happy with. I've cut brush that was as tall or taller then the tractor's ROPS.

I doubt if I need to for a long time, but if I ever bought another cutter, it'd be another Land Pride.

My brother has a 48" Land Pride. It is 13 years old now, and mows 10-12 acres 2-3 times a year. It has never been a problem. The mowing is light duty now, but I remember first opening up the fields that had not been touched for years. Growth over the tractor and thousands of briar brushes and 1-2" saplings. The Land Pride did great!!

I do not have a LP rotary cutter, but do have a LP finish mower, and I have to say Roy pretty much sumed it up. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I just bought a Landpride RCR18 60" and used it to mow 3 acres with tall grasss and blackberrys. It did a great job.

Just take a look at the gear boxes on the two and note what differences there are. The Woods gear boxes have a large oil channel that constantly bathes the gears in oil, most others are much smaller. I don't know the Landpride, so they may do something similar. Another thing is look at how the skid plates are constructed. Does the Landpride only extend just around the corners, or does it go all the way back?
If you look them both over well, I think you may decide the Woods is worth the little extra, or you may be able to get the dealer to match the price.
If past history is any indication, you'll be able to get parts for that Woods 30 years from now with Woods Care. John

Bowhunter,

I also have the 60" landpride rotary cutter and I have run it though some pretty knarly stuff.... Works like a champ...

I think it's quite well made... I also have the 6' landpride landscape rake and it is also excellent...

I would not hesitate to purchase more Land Pride attachements..

Regards,
Chris
