Iseki TL-1900
I've had no luck finding a ROP for my Iseki. I'd like to hear thoughts and suggestions on a home made ROP. I know, I know...I've heard the horror stories about home made ROP's failing. But if the manufacturer can put a ROP on a tractor I'm convinced the user can build one that's just as strong too. My Dad was certified as a welder by the Navy and spent some time building ships. I would put his welds up against anyones.

Let me hear from someone who has an Iseki with a ROP. Can you tell me where on the tractor the ROP mounts? What's the diameter of the ROP? Does it mount at 2 points or 4? I would really appreciate it if someone could provide some close up pictures of the mount.

There's a Yanmar guy over at Highland Rim Tractor & Equipment. I'd say your best bet is to eyeball an approved ROPS yourself, and decide from there whether or not it's a project that you should be considering. And if you run across a White brand compact, it is probably a rebadged Iseki.

tncruzin,

I don't doubt that you and your father will be able to make a very strong ROPS assembly.

Keep in mind though that you also need it to be attached to the tractor in a way that keeps it in place to protect you, should the worst happen.

Having the ROPS break away from the tractor during a roll/flip, while you are belted into the seat, would be a very bad thing. It has happened. I can't find the link I have in mind, but a young boy was killed when the rops on the tractor he was operating failed.

Well, actually in that case the ROPS itself did not fail...the attachment point did, and it folded, offering no protection during a back flip. This was due to some mounting hardware being missing...so while the ROPS looked good, it actually wasn't any good when called upon in an emergency.
