3 pt. disc harrows. Price and quality?

Looking at them and would kind of like a set of 3 pt. disc harrows but havent studied yet whats good or bad and how much. I found these at a place. Name Brand Tufline and a 6' 4" set was $1400. Pro's and Cons? I think I would like to have an 8 footer and was hoping to pay a little less hehe. I want heavy duty not light weight junk.

The one in my Orscheln catalog is a 6 1/2' one for $499. It's King Kutter. Prices in this catalog seem about 10% low compared to KK stuff at the local TSC store here. Don't know about the quality. Maybe others can comment.

All Monroe-Tufline equipment that I've seen appeared to be well designed and built for the real world, but generally a little pricey compared to KK, etc. May be another instance of you get what you pay for.
When I was looking for a disk I looked at the tufline but found an old used one that I bought.

Like Glenn said, the Monroe Tufline stuff I've seen was built for heavy duty use. The only thing I've had of theirs was a 4' box blade, but it was indestructible. Prices seem a little high, but it ought to last a lifetime.

I was just at tufline site. They have several models. I dont know what model I saw and place was closed. will find out tomorrow. They have like a #660 lb one and a #780lb one and a #968lb one and the best was #1200lbs all the same width but different thickness steel and built better. basically you can get economy or tuff built! im ancious to see what they had for $1400. horsepower ratings also vary from like a 25 horse to a 30 to a 35 to 50 or more. They had several widths to pick from but the one I saw was 6' 4" so i looked at those on the website. I would like a little wider but just starting to think about things at this point. Not sure which tractor Im gonna use it with either. tufline at this point looks like a good company for these 3pt. disc harrows.

Got a 5'6" Tuffline made out of tubing with sealed bearings I like alot.

We have a used 6 ft 4 inch Tufline with sealed pillow block bearings that is one of the heavier series for $895--Ken Sweet

Leinbach also makes a stout disc harrow using 3"x3" tubing for the frame. They make a 8' unit.

TuffLine makes a good one. If you happen on to one, Bush Hog made a good one for years. Massey Ferguson made the BEST WORKING 3 point disc ever (IMHO) It employed design over brute force. There are still a few around on the used market. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'm just not much of a fan of 3-point disc's anymore. I've had several. They're convenient, but just don't perform like a good wheel disc. I've got a mid-70's IH #350, 8'-6" model now. Anyway I think this has the flange housing and not pillow block and im not sure which one is better but it also is a combination one with 7-1/2" and 9" spacing with notched on front and solid on back and has the adjustable blade scraper kit added on. It list for $1650 and $350 extra for the scrapers so Its a $2000 rig he is selling for $1450. It will weigh in at 1000 lbs. Its a pretty tough one they have 3 series that are lighter and only one heavier. I guess it dont get much better for a 3 pt. hitch model. Oh yeah its 6' 8" and not 6' 4" so i think the width will do.
