Is there such a thing as a 3 point hitch roller? I would think there is. I have a long steep circular driveway, and after heavy rains it gets pretty rutted. I rake it with my landscape rake, but I would think it would hold up better if I could pack it down.
If there is such a thing as a 3 point hitch roller, how much do they cost?
Thanks!

Rich

Rich,
I don't know if there is such a thing as a 3pt. roller. I would think it would be too heavy to pick up. Here is a photo of a 5 ft. 1400 lbs. roller that I made from an old water tank and some angle iron. I use it in the spring to push the rock crop back down in the yard. You might be able to make one like this and use it on your driveway.

Rich, if you go to www.growerequipment.com and go to bottom and click on rollers they have a 3point roller but it's pretty pricey. budinohio

Mike,
It is filled with water and then drained when not used.

Rich,
Sounds to me like a couple of loads of "crusher run" gravel is more what you need. Crusher Run may be called something else in your area, but it is small stone mixed with stone dust. It is easy to grade and the stone dust locks everything together making it the stone of choice for steeper grades. Once it is driven on it packs very hard and will not rut.

Just my 2 cents.

Bud, thanks for that site!! That's exactly what I'm looking for. The only problem is that as you said its pricey!!! It cost $3595!!!!/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gifThat's more than I paid for my tractor, with a 3ph snowblower!!!/w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif It looks like I'll try to follow Von's advice and make one./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

If you can live with a trailed model then just look around at farm equipment dealerships, and farm auctions. Should be able to pick one up fairly cheap. I see them around here for around $100 frostbacks or so all of the time.

Von, I have a water tank, angle iron, and welder. Where did you get, and how did you mount the bearings for the axel to turn in?? Colud you take some pics of that part of your roller and post for reference please. been wanting to do this for a couple of years.
Thanx, Bert
