I am about to make a deal on a T5 Harley Power Rake. Here is the big question. Will this tool work on my tractor?I have a brand new TC24DA tractor. It has 18.8 to 19 hp at the pto. Glenmac says it requires 16 to 22 pto hp. They say if i had only 16hp it may be questionable.
Is there a huge operational difference between 16 and 19 hp? (yes i know, 3hp for all the funny guys.lol)
I spoke with a guy at a rental yard and he said i need 40 hp or more. He said i could use it to skimm pass, the top 1'' of soil but i wouldnt be able to go the 3-4 inches the rake is intended for due to the lack of power in the NH tc24.
I have several people that will hire me as soon as i get it, but, I need to know if it will do the job before i shuck out many thousands of clams for a tool that may or may not work.
I need to make up my mind in the next week or so. Any help will be more than appreciated. Thank you, Gregp

I have a T-6 that I think might be sold, any way your tractor will handle it. These power rakes are at there max depth at 2". No deeper, this pass is slow to alow the dirt to grind up and roll over the drum. the last pass is just hitting the hi spots and drive fast.

I would check to made sure your 3 point will lift the weight? I was at a dealer 6 months ago and a gentelmen came in to rent the unit and he had a b2710 when he hooked it up he could not lift it of the ground. The tractor was rated for the weight but the rake hung off the back to far.

Just re-read the post.
Why not rent it first, and not shell out the big bucks until you know it works?

If his B2710 can't lift a T5 or T6 Harley rake then that B2710 has serious, and I mean serious, 3pt hydraulic problems.

The T5 rake weighs only 550 lbs, the T6 weighs only 830 lbs and the T8 weighs 1150 lbs. The B2710 3pt lift capacity at the lift arms is 1655 lbs and 1330 lbs 24" out from that.

Now the PRO-6 and PRO-8 series are another thing altogether. The PRO-6 weighs in at 995 lbs and the PRO-8 at 1575 lbs.

Are you sure he wasn't trying to rent a PRO-8 series which would be right near the B2710's limit?

It might have been a t6.The unit was modified as a self contained unit and did not require hyd for angle. The rental place put a pump and tank so as to provide angle adj. I was suprized as you are but I watched the individual mount the harley on the 2710 and was prepared to drive on to his trailer when the unit would not raise. The harley rake hangs way out beyond the pins. I was only trying to point out other issues beside power issue.

Thanks for all the replys. I am still looking for all the experience i can gather. There are no rental yards in my area that have a powe rake. I am at the mercy of those of you who own , rent or have operated them. Thanks, Greg
