JD 2210
hello all. I have a new 2210 with Imatch. since I live in the country, I have a very long gravel drivway that persists in getting weeds in it. In the past I have used a backpack tank sprayer and manually hit the weeds with various killer products. Am thinking there must be some kind of pull-behind tank sprayer (relatively cheap) that I can use with the 2210.....one with a long horizontal tube/openings that sprays out a path of weed killer. does JD have such a thing? some other brand or aftermarket product? thanks, buckie

Agri-Supply sells several at very reasonable prices, sometimes even less than Northern or other places. Here is a link to their most recent catalog. Click on the catalog to get the page thumbnails. Sprayers are on the first few pages.

A 15-25 gallon sprayer that would sit on a "carry-all" would do the job and be less money than a pull-behind.

I already had a carry-all which is great for moving stuff around. It turns the tractor into a virtual forklift, except it can't lift stuff high up. From N.H. Northern, I bought a $89, 15 gal. sprayer which was designed to be bungee strapped to the back of an ATV. I put a wood plank the width & length of the tank on the carry-all and bungee the sprayer in place. This was a lot cheaper than the kind already on wheels. Since it is lightweight, I can lift it and store it up high on a shelf or in the garage trusses. A sprayer with its own frame and wheels is too heavy for this & takes up precious garage space.

Femco makes a pretty decent tow behind sprayer. I use mine a lot. It puts out a pattern about 5 foot wide. Works great for spraying the yard with 24d and it has a wand for hand spraying. I am thinking you buy one for around $225.

after getting three prices from tractor dealers, and looking on the net. I found a supplier in CA that had a great price. They shipped it in the afternoon, got it the next morning. After getting the Agri Supply catalog i found i left a couple hundred dollars on the table. Their prices look hard to beat if they have one you like.

I checked the agri supply catalog and found that they actually have a retail store fairly close to me. so, will make a trip to their store this weekend. I think the pull-behind 15 gal sprayer is about $245 unassembled. my question is whether the length of wire, from the sprayer to the battery on my 2210, is going to be long enough. I may have to splice in some length.
What's a "carry-all"? I hate to ask so many dumb questions. Am just learning about this stuff. thanks to everyone for the help!

A carry all is just a box that mounts to the rear of your tractor like an attachment ie a box blade or rake would. It uses the 3pt hitch its just another way to carry stuff.

I carry my tank in my FEL, it's not far to the battery from there and I use small clamps to attach it to the terminals temorarily. The hose is looped along a FEL arm so the wand is at hand's reach. From there I have a hose attachment rather than a spray head on the wand and that hose runs to a boom pole "U" bolted to the tractor's lower arms. It works well for the 4 times a year it's used and easy to switch between boom pole and wand sprayer.
