I realize that this subject has been beat to death in other threads. But here's my problem....

I want to buy one but the one's from H&H Mfg (the EZ toothbar series) that are available at my local distributor are around $500. Seems a little steep to me (price includes shipping and taxes).

The ones from Markham are for welded on cutting edges only....mine is a bolt on.

A couple of questions....

anyone know of any other places to get one that might be closer to $300 than $500?

Should I buy one from Markham and just remove the bolt on edge when I want to use it? Or simply weld the existing cutting edge on?

If I remove the edge to use the toothbar, do I risk beating up my bucket edge a lot?

It's only a **** 60" bucket on a little 28 hp MF....this shouldn't be this @#$%^&%^^$%$ hard!

got any advice ya'll?

Seems a bit steep. Have you tried plugging in Toothbar in the upper right hand corner to search the forum. I bet there are hundreds of messages many with the pricing and information as to where they got theres.

H&H makes both a toothbar and a landscape bar. The landscape bar is more expensive and has about twice the number of teeth that the tooth bar has.

I would call H&H and ask the list price of their toothbar. For the price quoted I would bet the dealer quoted the EZ Landscaper rather than the standard toothbar.

I have an H&H toothbar for my 54" bucket and I love it, but would not have one if it had cost $500. I don't know exactly what it cost, as it came as part of the package, but at the time, almost three years ago, I figured it to be about $280 or so.

The nice thing about the H&H is that is is constructed in a way that REALLY adds strength to the bottom lip. No fear of bending anything when pushing trees over and so on.

As much as I respect that toothbar though, if it were $500 I'd not have one...
