KIOTI CK20 GEAR.
I'd like to get a yard rake. The two I've looked at so far are a York rake at a dealer and KK at TSC. Both are 5'. The York rake comes with gage wheels installed for $575.00. The KK is $415.00. Is it worth the extra $160.00 for the York? Are there others I should look at/consider? Thanks.

I dont know about specific costs but you would spend 175-200 for gauge wheels from what I have seen people post(installed) Woods and Land pride also make rakes that might be worth checking out.

Gerard , I just ordered a Woods LR 800/guage wheel this saturday . Should have it in a week to 10 days . If You aren't in a hurry , I'll give you my imressions(fit, finish and workmanship ) of it when it comes in . John

Gerard; The wheels for the KK would be $175-200, so the rakes are the same price. I looked at the KK XB for my BX, I was going to have $615 into the rake and wheels. I bought a Woods LRC-60. with wheels for $650. IMHO, the sturdiness, fit, finish, and design of the Woods is much superior to the KK. I am sure the York is much nicer as well.

For what it is worth, I think the wheels are a really useful option. I have a land pride with detachable wheels. Although I have used it a couple of times without the wheels, the bulk of the time they remain in place.

GerardC,

If you add gage wheels to the KK rake, it will end up costing the same as the York rake that already has the wheels.

Having the wheels is an asset in my opinion. You could make them cheaper than buying them if you can weld. Otherwise buying is about the only option. I am glad I have them. They make the rake a better tool in my opinion.

I think your CK20 is about the size of my Kubota B2910. I have a 6' rake, but a couple days ago I realized I would rather have a 7' rake. I could have used a little more sticking out beyond my tires. My tire width is about 54". I am just mentioning this because once you buy it, you got it...might as well try to do it right the first time. For me 6' is OK, and actually a good compromise size, because I can use it on a smaller tractor. But 7' would probably be better if I were only going to use it on the b2910. Something to think about...

The gage wheels for my KK cost $150 plus shipping and sales tax last year...

As to the size, I think a 6' rake is a nice size for a small frame tractor. I use a Howse 6' rake with the B2910 at my office and the 30hp tractor didn't even know that there was anything attached to the 3pt. The rakes really don't put a lot of strain on a tractor, go with the largest size you can use on your property. I agree with Henro, the 7' is better suited for the B2910. That said, I have a 6' Midwest Rake at the house, it is a nice size for the TC24, but again, the 6' rake pulls easily behind the 24hp tractor. I think it is well suited to the frame size of the little TC (48" wide at the rear tires).

Regarding your question about checking out other brands:

Last spring the Howse rake was $400. The fit & finish of the paint is typcial Howse (not very good).

I got the Midwest rake earlier this month, I paid $415 for their tilt & angle adjustable LR22-72 rake. I believe that Midwest make rakes for Kioti, I don't know if Kioti offer the "22" series adjustable tilt & angle rakes. The LR20-72 is their angle adjustable rake without the tilt feature. The Midwest powdercoat finish is typically supurb.

I do not have the gauge wheel option.

I agree with the 6' recommendation. I have a 6 footer for my Kioti and it just barely covers my tracks when angled. I would have been disapointed with anything smaller.

Gerard, let me know where you found the york at. I have been shopping here in Va. 6' frontier- $500 Kodiak- $379 Woods and Land Pride $560- $620 none of these have gauge wheels included and for some reason all the dealers act like Im crazy for wanting them and will have to special order them.A lot of people here say they are needed, the dealers comment was they are only neede on the "bigger" rakes. Anyway, left me confused and I sure like the price on that york. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I had a york rake years ago. Worked it hard for many years, and never had a minutes trouble with it. IMHO they are an excellent unit, worth the money.
Richard.
