Sprayer Looking for a good 3 point hitch sprayer

/ Looking for a good 3 point hitch sprayer #11
I bought the 3pt Fimco 60 gal boom type unit, added the gun and a different gauge as well.

I like the 3pt better than going with the carry all route myself.

I posted this information above already! Click HERE and scroll down. The original poster of this thread asked the same question as you and there were replies regarding carry alls. You will find several links to marketers of carry alls and find a photo of one that was home built from plans that can be purchased.

If you click HERE, you will be taken to another thread with much information about carry alls.

Both of these threads should give you lots of helpful information.

<font color="blue"> If you plan on using Glyphosate (Round-Up) , liquid nitrogen fertilizers, or any fungasides, take precautions to keep the pump "oiled" when not in use. (VERY corrosive materials)

I have one of the Fimco sprayers from TSC. I spray Glyphosate but didn't know I needed to oil the pump. How do I oil it?

The RV type pumps on the Fimco sprayers do not need to be "oiled" with oil. Just rinse the tank with clean water then put a few gallons of clean water in the tank and run it out thru the pump. You just want to remove any residue of contaminated water from the lines and pump. You can also use a neutralizing cleaner to get similar results.

When everything is washed out GOOD, drain all the water, then fill the pump with diesel fuel. Trust me on this one. We spray 1400 (+) acres a year with round-up. Wasted more than one pump by NOT protecting it with some sort of lubricant afterwards.

Diesel fuel will ruin the plastic diaphram assembly of the RV style pumps (eg. Shurflo #2088). You can purchase different pumps with diaphram assemblies for different types of liquid (eg. Shurflo #3000 for oils). However, the standard Fimco RV style pump is rated only for water based fluids.

I've been doing it for years, without suffereing any damage to my pump. I use a ROLLER PUMP.

Ah Ha!

A roller pump and an RV type on-demand pump are two different animals. The max flow rate of the RV type pump is usually 2.5 gpm or less. The RV type pump has a small 3 chamber diaphram and valves made of EPDM and Santoprene, neither of which will tolerate diesel fuel.

The RV type pump is the one typically found on the small 10 to 40 gallon spot and trailer sprayers. I have attached a picture.

My spot-sprayer is the 60 (65?) gallon, 3-point hitch version. I had a new roller pump on hand. The diaphram pump wouldn't move enough volume to spray (up to) 30 gallons per acre @ 5 to 7 MPH. That is what I need for fungicide spraying. Normally, I spray at rates closer to 10 GPA. (Glyphosate/2,4-D)
