I have got in with a friend doing some landscape work and we have been planting trees. I have seen these 24" augers and wonder how well they work and what HP you need to use them. We have no rocks and I have had zero problems drilling 9" holes, but 24" seems like it would be a whole different story.

The type soil you have would make a big difference. In sandy loam it may do fine. In clay, especially dry, you could have problems. Do you know the soil classification?

I have seen them used on bob cats but never on a CUT. I would say the price of the auger is gonna be huge, I would rent a skid steer with the bit. But thats me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Rental with insurance and dig away /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

47hp tractors isn't bad, but thats a big auger also. We have sold a few of them, usually to people with larger utility tractors. What I would recommend is getting a hydraulic down pressure cylinder to help you out. I think it would work, especially with the aid of the down pressure.
