I suck with the box blade, HELP!

Inexperience notwithstanding, your biggest problem is the lack of draft control on that Jinma. The best suggestion has already been made, but I'm going to repeat in case you missed it the first time.

Depth control chains.

If you put the Jinma hydraulics in float, the chains will permit the box blade to cut the tops off the high spots, but STOP it from digging in when the front tires go over a bump or rise.

To this day I still cannot believe they don't have draft control on every tractor made.

I had a swinging tail on my boxblade but for my needs found it all but useless. Gannons have some that are swinging but can be bolted down from swinging.

It only seems to make sense. I would find the use of a tractor without it rather difficult. I have yet to use one without that feature and had to be informed a few hundred posts back that not all models had draft control, some had only up or down.

How about gauge wheels for your scraper? The further back the less the terrain will affect the boxblade height within reason.

Am I reading this wrong or are you guys meaning to say "position control" instead of "draft control"?

Your right Jerry, position control. I have had draft on some and optional on others and for my needs, I don't really utilize the benefits of draft but position, everytime I use a 3 pt implement. Thanks for the correction.

Draft is really nice for plowing, but you don't have to have it. I don't think that I could use a tractor without position control.

Dunno about the rest, but I'm the one that brought up draft control. Using box blade scarifiers to clear brushy ground and roots - becomes extremely frustrating WITHOUT draft control. When snagged, you want the hydraulics to LIFT the box back to preset operating depth. Without draft control, it will simply try to dig itself deeper. Just like a plow.

And a JM284 has no draft control

It isn't even an option is it? I know that I have never heard one having it. It it was, they aren't to hard to install.

I don't have that problem. You can use the position control to keep it from going down until it bottoms out. I also have a hydraulic top link and fully retract it when using my rippers. There are occasions where I hit material too hard to rip in one pass and for that I do need to lift the position control while maintaining pull power which helps break out the hard packed material. I can see Jerrys point where your plowing and would find it extremely inconvenient to have to routinely lift the position control to regain forward motion. I simply never encounter that. If I did, I would simply have purchased or would purchase draft control, an option on many tractors today.
