Finish Mower blade bolt question.

Bear you rounded the heads on the blade bolts, you did not strip the bolt or the threads.

TSC item 502310 blade bolts come 3 to a package with washers. The bolts are left hand thread and are 1/2" X 1-1/4 " long. I have a new set of them sitting on the edge of my desk that I keep as spares.

Hope this info helps you some......

That is probably what I need.
Now I gotta see about ording it as opposed to picking it up.

Thanks.

If you rounded off the bolt head, could you weld a nut sitting on top of it? Just an idea........

I suppose that could be done.
Except then it would stick out and probably hang on stuff.
It is already very close to the ground.
And, I don't have a welder.
Easier to just get a bolt.

Mike.

Being curious about the grade and thread count, I checked that item number with TSC. It came up as an invalid number. Individual store managers often procur ex-inventory items to satisfy local demand. Maybe that's how your store came to have that bolt set.

Or is that perhaps a KK part number?

Greg I can assure you that it is a valid KK item number for their finish mowers. It is also quite common to see this set of 3 blade bolts & washers hanging in the KK section of most TSC stores. I have seen them in multiple stores so they should be easy to locate in Bears neck of the woods too.

If it's any clue there are 3 hash marks and a large JH on the bolt heads. They are also anodized black

Hope this helps.

Try this place McMaster Carr they have them. I bought a stud and nuts instead of the bolts but you should be able to get them to ship to you very quickly.

That's what I thought Mike, thanks. 502310 is a KK catalog part number - stores call them vendor numbers - as opposed to the actual TSC item number. Three bars on the head indicate it's a Grade 5 bolt, but the JH doesn't help - with the thread count question anyway.

The description I gave to P_B_ was that my finish mower specified 1/2" Grade 8 left hand fine thread. Since mine was made in America too, the thought was that his mower might use a similar bolt. I've seen the KK stuff at my area TSC, but never bothered to inquire as to its country of origin.

I would have made several 25 mile trips to Chattanooga/ Ft. Oglethorpe for parts and supplies while this thread was going on.
