I've got an old RM48 Woods mower that I use very little,I've always thought it ran 540 rpm, today with I was fooling around and it seems to cut better at higher speeds. My pto speeds are 540,802,and1314. Could tell me what it was designed to work at or if the higher speeds would hert anything /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I believe it was built for 540. You may overheat your gear box going at faster speeds, and if you hit something, no telling if your shear bolt will do it's job in time.
Your Mitsubishi was built for another country where they make implements designed for higher PTO speeds, but the Woods mowers were not. John

your pto speeds depend on your engine rpm. Your mower is designed for 540 pto speed. If you ran your engine at low rpms and used 1st pto gear you may have ran your mower slower than 540rpms.
