I just bought a Land Pride Power Rake with hydraulic angle and hydraulic tines, it is a model 2572, it came with the spiral bars, but I have the option of buying the carbide tip bar at dealer cost of around $1300 plus shipping. I bought the unit brand new for a great price because the dealer could not sell. When I made my offer I factored in that I may have to get the carbide teeth bar and made my offer with this in mind. I'm just wondering if it would be worth the extra $1300 to get the carbide tip bar? I have two months to decide to order it. If I don't order in this time frame I won't get it at his price.
I would love to hear from people who have used both types so I can make the right call. Thanks to all of you and thanks for a great forum. Jim /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I've only used the bars. My Pro 8 has horizontal bars. If or when the bars wear out, I will consider going carbide tips instead. It just seems to make sense that that would be a better setup. The bars will clog up with damp soil although it still works well that way.

If your wanting to clean rocks and other debis you can not beat the rolloer you have, BUT for dirt pulverizeing you can not beat the teeth. If it was me I would get the other roller. A toothed roller does good on rocks as long as you idel the tractor down, this keeps them from flying way over yawnder.
